there is a lot more here than just raw views.
to me, the value of your content is a derivative of several variables including length, quality, talent ETC.
although you are right, a great short clip can get more views than a long scene. a long scene promotes increased time on site, increased time with ads displayed in the users field of view, and the users knowledge that their access isn't going to get cut off right before the good part.
So, although it is certainly possible for a shrot video to generate more advertising revenue, there are other advantages to longer videos that you have to consider, and we chose to compensate for those advantages.
