Here in Crapan the cops are the biggest organized crime syndicate by far. Yakuza don't have shit on Japanese cops. You might not be able to bribe a Japanese cop on the street with $1000, but if you have enough "status" you can literally walk around stealing millions and raping junior high school girls without any repercussions. As far as idiocy goes... can you imagine an American cop going to visit a kindergarten to give a safety presentation to the kids, then leaving his loaded handgun in the bathroom? Or getting drunk and falling asleep at the station, only to let a suspected murderer escape? Or a bunch of 10 senior American cops letting a rape suspect escape wearing nothing but his underpants from his room on the 5th floor of an apartment complex? This level of dumb fuckery happens ALL THE TIME here. It is a weekly occurrence, at least, and that's not even the worst of it. The worst of it doesn't come out until you're able to read newspapers or 2ch in Japanese.

Japanese cops would give the worst 3rd world police forces a run for their money in terms of both mid to high level corruption and general idiocy.
