Pick a subreddit that closely relates to your site, write an article that might be a little controversial but has an opinion that enough people will agree with it, offer some inside knowledge / new current technological advance and submit.
The extra traffic is of course a bonus, but if the article is decent, you'll get some good backlinks from closely related sites. Maybe even remove the ads or reduce them for this.
