Most African countries don't have the resources to support a proper DNR like the United States and most Western countries would have. Hunting and Safari expeditions like this, if done properly, can help generate a lot of revenue to build and sustain a good wildlife program that can hopefully fight off the poachers… the people that are really killing off species.
As long as he wasn't poaching or violating a conservation regulation on his hunt, which I doubt he did either, I have no problem with this. Unless the rest of the world is ready to pony up some heavy money to create DNR style programs in poor countries, we should probably pipe down a bit when a country in Africa needs to sell off expeditions or a country in the Amazon sells off forest lands for pastures.
