As a nonreligious individual I don't care if people perform certain actions that they think or pretend will bestow certain 'magical/divine/...' characteristics upon an object. Personally I think the whole idea of spending time and resources on raising awareness about the silliness of certain harmless customs is just as silly as those customs themselves.
