And by the way, i should point out thats not absolutely true. I mean people will go through a 4 step registration process just as easily as a 3 step registration process, provided they are motivated, they understand why the steps exist, where they are in the process, when it ends etc.
But from blog -> fhg (totally in-congruent to blog look/feel and often poorly done) -> paysite landing page (again, often different from fhg look/feel/language) -> tour page -> join page is adding an unnecessary step with no benefit to the user.
