So you want to be a webmaster but have no experience with it?
Specifically...what are you wanting to run? You say you mostly do affiliate work and that brings in some money for you so you have one thing down, traffic.

I've been doing website development for over 10 years. I am completely self taught and did it without books or classes. I viewed page sources and broke them apart. Now, things are made way easier now and full knowledge of scripting isn't needed.

If you want to make a site with the affiliate links, give more into it than that. Talk about trends, a 'site of the month', interview people, etc. This gives you subjects to talk about and makes your site more successful.

Now if you want to learn how to create a blog there are templates out there but adding on the extra material to make it a site people actually want to refer back to would require knowing some scripting...in which case...I happen to know a REALLY good tutor. ;p
