Cats kept indoors tend to live for about 15 to 16 years vs cats who are let out (7 years). Cats that are let out are more prone to disease, toxins, tics, animal attacks, and sometimes, stupid human attacks.
You don't need to ask this question - you already know what to do.

That is all propaganda. I base what I do on 36 years experience and seeing my cats do just fine outdoors.
Yes I know what to do.. I know I would never keep an animal inside forever dog or cat or Monkee when I am in the country with at least 1/4 acre lot. That is cruel.
You are WAY over protective.
disease - Never had one cat get a disease
toxin - notta
tics - very few and manageable
animal attacks - that is a poss and the worse danger but also rare as very few animals can deal with a full sized cat.
Lucky used to run up to the corner

where they had two dobermans and fuck with them.. they would chase Lucky home and he would come barreling up the cat steps and inside like a bat out of hell and we (Lucky and I would LAUGH about it. Slow fucking dogs Roof Roof Roof LOL
Lucky would LOSE their asses quick and even if they got up to him they would be missing an eye before they ever got a full sized country cat like Lucky. He would bite both before theyh knew what fucken happened. Animals? Very rare in MN. Coyotes YES but none around here
human attacks - lets hope not.. it is very rare out here. Good people mostly out here. Even Dickhead is an old farm kid who once told me he would never hurt Lucky during softer conversations we once had.
no dog could touch Lucky
this I took in 2004 after our fight when I almost gave Lucky away
he knew something was wrong, i was in tears
here is my boy.. big cat.. a cat's cat
he fucked with dogs for shits and giggles
my images are back, tho I still hate most people
