everywhere in the dr has armed guards. corner stores, banks, restaurants, grocery stores... there is at least 5 of them working my community at any given time. occasionally they catch a ladron or two but are more of a visual deterrent than anything. they dont let any guests in unless you meet them at the gate and they leave their ID at the gate... and they cant leave without you accompanying them. anyhow none of this helps with gringoes because they figure that all english speaking people know each other, and in my case the dude lives here inside the compound with moms/pops. he's got a room in their place which he eagerly showed me, but not his own spot
