The problem with crowdfunding will be more and more crowdfunding website competing, this will dilute the total # of investors on each site and in turn reduce chances for everybody.
I guess the real problem is that there is a limited # of people actually willing to pledge money...very limited

Good points! My solution to the idea theft point is to step up to the crowdfund platform ONLY after you have a patent pending or have some crucial contracts. The key to differentiation (and protecting yourself from idea vampires) is to build some hurdles from easy idea replication.
