On the one hand, when you're sixteen your parents don't know anything. You can't understand wisdom borne of experience until you have some.
On the other hand, fuck talking about better days gone by, about how it used to be. With the background of long experience, you can find something that works TODAY, test it and share your results that are relevant today. PHDs spend ten years studying what WAS learned, the historical basis of their field, then they do research to earn their PHD.
People listen to a professor, a PHD, lecture because he has both the extensive background and historical basis AND he does research, adding new knowledge to the current state of the art.
You've said you get bored at times. You've saud you could, financially, retire. I bet you could get rid of that boredom by going back like when you were new and trying out some new things. I bet you did A/B split testing back in the day. Which theories you've held actually stand up to testing in today's environment? Find out and then I'll be interested in a lecture from professor Markham.
Maybe take something you know well from experience and figure out how that principle applies to Facebook.
