Just because he carries, does not mean he is scared.
He is just being cautious of the crazy society we live in.

I do not want to hear the macho I would beat someone's ass, I don't need a gun or knife.

My Brother took 2+ bullets protecting a lady in a Lubby?s restaurant in Killeen Texas. A crazy person drove his car right through the window got out and started dropping people. My brother was not armed, at the time, and blocked a shot with his body for a lady at the salad bar. he then went to disarm the guy with the gun and was shot again.
Another lady in the store visiting from a state where she had a CCW went to her purse to pull her gun, but she did not have it with her, because at the time Texas was NOT CCW.
