Invariably, the "look at the president taking a day off during the present crisis" appears during every presidency which means:
1. People always perceive that we are in a crisis
2. People have short memories
On that note, ex-president Clinton just received a whopper of a sum for a public speaking engagement which is another theme that is on the repeat cycle.
World leaders deserve good salaries, whatever the market will bear for speaking engagements and days off.

Or most likely:
3. Republicans and Democrats hate one another and each will miss no opportunity to take a piss on the other.
JMO, but I think Clinton deserves the $9 mill. He's a good speaker, he's charismatic, and he has a lot to say. Another ex-pres who's always been made fun of to some degree is Jimmy Carter, who is by far one of the smartest men I've ever heard speak. I think he's brilliant.
Now GW, on the other hand, is a different story.

Something tells me a lucrative career in public speaking won't be something he excels at when he leaves office.

I can't imagine why though...
(I'm going to hide now before I get the big, "GFY!")
