My dad would yell at me for changing the channel too fast. There were like 28 channels, and if you wanted to get from 1 all the way to 28, you had to get a good grip and if you cocked your wrist enough you could get all the way through the dial in a single second.
My brother was scared of the metal knob and wouldn't touch it because the static was so bad in our house. You could literally see a blue spark bite your finger. I always slammed my knuckle into it first to discharge, but my brother got smart and used a pair of pliers with a rubber handle if he wanted to watch Starblazers.
