to me the locking device makes it safe, but it goes to a case were the prosectuters argued if it locks then its the same as a non folding blade. as i say it makes no odds to me if you have it or not. i am just pointing it out that its ok to have at home, but not in public. and under uk law a car/van is classed as a public area.

if it locks its illegal, thats the law and has been for a long time. You should have got a solicitor that knew the law. Also unless you haven't worked it out yet, its only illegal if you are caught.
