Damn that sucks. I think I would throw in the towel and buy a new TV. I believe the lamp thing I mentioned caused issues elsewhere from what I read (because people said after they replaced the knock off with a OEM lamp the spots remained).

I love my Mitsubishi though. The original lamp lasted me 5+ years (of daily use) and no problems to speak of since replacing it. It does seem MANY people have problems with the same set though.

Well good luck in getting it fixed if you decide to do that. If not, the price on the 83" DLPs have dropped significantly. I believe that will be my next purchase unless I decide to go with a projector.
