Writer wants to talk to someone here about copyright infringement
Hi! My sincere apologies if I'm violating etiquette here.
I'm a writer for the Daily Dot. I'm looking for anyone who runs or helps run a site that produces original content and finds business difficult directly because of piracy.
I've written several times about folks who have either had to deal with incorrect DMCA notices or who have been victims of so-called "copyright trolls." But I know that isn't the whole story when it comes to copyright. I want to profile someone (or several people) who produce original content, stuff that provides entertainment for lots of people, whose business suffers because it's hard to keep people from illegally share that content for free.
I've talked before with someone for whom this was the case, but he refused to go public with almost anything: his name, how he tried to protect his intellectual property, even the name of his company. I simply can't write a story that vague. I'm looking for someone who's willing to be upfront about their legal battles, and trusts that most of the porn-consuming public would be sympathetic that they're simply trying to run a small business.
If you're game, I'd love to hear from you. Please email me at kcollier@dailydot[dot]com.
