Man, last week was bad for my mainstream job, this weeks looking to go the same way.
We have been running a dedicated box at hosting.com for a few years with no probs. We started seeing issues with email and turns out barracuda or spam cop had put us on it's shit list. We contacted them and they said it was our fault because of a form that didn't have a captcha. After some back and forth it turned out due to some kid of vulnerability some hacker got into their system and hit one of our sites.
They admitted it was their fault and have seen this happen in the past. They decided to shut down the sever (giving us and our clients 10 min notice) and replace & upgrade the box on their dime. Sites are still on and off, 500/503 errors. We called them today and they said they left out some sites in a header file or something. Also they upgraded our version of ColdFusion and its having some probs with some of our old client sites that are still using access dbs. Something like its running them up to a certain memory limit then cf crashes or some crap.
Sorry to bitch but I just think it's nuts. We have and are still very polite with them but were starting to lose some clients and honestly, I hate having to deal with the calls. You ca prob tell from the text above I am not the server guy at my job. I don't know wtf to say to our pissed off clients that who's sites are still down or email isn't going through. I know my boss is paying like 600 - 800 a month for that box, it's not like were makin it rain over there, but its also not like a babycroc reseller plan either. Our server savvy guy went on our remote desktop this morning and it asked em off the bat if he wanted to reformat a disk lmao. He logged out of it with a quickness

.
Any of you guys have any probs with them or in general like this? Seems like every 3 or so years we get hit with some crazy shit and end up down for a week or more. What do you guys that have a dedicated box for mainstream use? We have a nice box on MediaTemple but they don't really have truly dedicated solutions. No ColdFusion option either.
