Sorry I thought I had explained. Because 18 months ago it was established that the uk could block access to piracy sites when newzbin2 was banned.
It did nothing. People downloaded the workaround client from their site, or went to one of the dozens of other usenet indexing sites instead. No one went after the other sites. It had zero impact in usenet access in the uk
Blocking pirate bay will similarly have no impact. Torrents are not popular any more, there are millions of other tracking sites, anyone that knows what they are doing can get round it in seconds
It is pointless and establishes government censorship precedents. As someone that works in porn, I don't like the idea of the government being allowed to block access to sites they think are unsuitable. If I wanted that I'd move to china.
