A business has to make a profit to survive & grow. Piracy in porn or mainstream is killing the business. So to make up the lost revenue, mainstream has jacked the prices. Same as retail charges extra since people shoplift.

Now some charges get built in but for no reason. Credit cards are an example. Since the processor charges 2-5% retailers bump the prices 2-5% or more. However, credit/debit cards actually save them money. One is less employee theft as there is less cash to steal and many small businesses pay for their bank to deliver/receive cash & coins. Big businesses "don't pay," but banks build that into the fees somewhere.

Both McDonalds & Ruth Chris factor in a theft amount in every product sold. Every motel & hotel factor in an amount of theft into your bill. Employee or customer, if your accountants don't factor this into your Cost OF Goods you better fire them.
