Here's a business idea:
The new UltraAVX theatres here in Montreal have assigned seating, that you pay for online via credit card. Install a couple of night vision cameras & computers in the theatre. The computer can run software that can detect the tell-tale signs of cellphone or camera use and ignore the rest. The flagged video can easily contain seating meta data. Tie the data with date & time, and you have the ticket buyer's name and credit card info. Now there is ample evidence for an arrest, fines and prosecution.
Turn this into a service that can monitor hundreds or thousands of movie theatres at the same time and charge a fee. Even better license it to movie companies who can add additional meta data into their movies that will tie the exact print (or digital fingerprint) of the movie at that time. This way they know exactly what movie at which theater was ripped. They already "watermark" movies with the names of people they give prints to for post production. They could do the same for each individual digital theatre. They could force each theatre to comply with these anti-piracy techniques and voila! Instant cash.
