Nixon did good with China, but he was probably the most overtly corrupt President you had - he loved football, the CIA and literally taking grease money even when in the white house lol.
Clinton, like most dems if not all of dem before Obama, actually left the office with a budget surplus. Only Republicans who refuse to tax appropriately but still spend and hypocritically apply "big government" to cultural and social targets produce deficits - and they have now lost all control with DHS oversight of everything and military involvement or sub-contracting everywhere else. It's crazy...
