Oh it's much worse than that Lloyd, the sell ad impressions. So more traffic = more money. They don't give two shits if people download files or not. They want ad impressions. And this publicity is giving them more money. Simple.
And you think it is GOOD to get them more money?
Don't get it.

I don't suggest that, I point out sources that prove it. But carry on...

Here's the situational choices Lloydypoidy.
a) All the UK press, TV, print and radio run extensive articles about a piracy website and their traffic goes up.
b) None of the uk press tv, print or radio mention a piracy website and their traffic doesn't go up.
You seem to be in favour of option a. As someone who
claims to be anti-piracy (despite you wanting to steal youtube MP3s and put them on your xoom), I fail to see how giving a piracy site the biggest ad campaign they could get is something you're in favour of?

Citation?
So in conclusion, your awesome counterpoint is that it doesn't matter that the measures won't work, and it doesn't matter if all the publicity increased traffic to their site because piracy always goes up?
That's it? Piracy always increases, so therefore publicity doesn't matter?
/me shakes head
I imagine you didn't do too well at debating class in school.
