I don't think it takes a genius to figure out that YES the PUBLICITY from them having legal problems will get people curious and people will go check it out. We all do that when something interests us that we never heard about before or thought much about.

But that doesn't mean that the act of fighting piracy caused new people to check out their site. It means that the resulting PUBLICITY did.

And that can quickly become a double edged sword.

For instance...neither I, nor anyone I know would even dare to go to a website that might have CP on it. (and no, I wouldn't anyway...this is a hypothetical)
Why?
Because the PUBLICITY about those sites has been that the FBI is logging IP's in a sting operation on sites like that and will come and arrest you.

The PUBLICITY for TBP has been that they have tons of stolen shit and you can get it all for free with no repercussions to you.

Now if that changed, and the PUBLICITY was that IP's are being tracked that go to TBP and ISP's are shutting people down from their internet connection for visiting known pirate sites and downloading/uploading to them...then it would result in an entirely different scenario.

If the UK blocks them it will undoubtedly have a big effect. And then the dominoes could begin to fall.

My guess is that eventually that the guys at TPB are going to end up in prison. Stealing is stealing (a rose by any other name smells just as sweet).
