I don't think you'll get banned for to many ads but penalized, yes but that's a very very different thing than banned.
So this is good news because chances are you aren't "banned" but just heavily penalized.
So #1 add the domain in question to Google Webmaster Tools, you should be able to learn more about the domain name that way.
#2 Go to Google and search for your site. Go
site:yourdomainname.com ie: site:gfy.com
If your site is included in the google search index it will say there. If not, then you know for sure you are banned.
#3 We will assume you are not actually banned, just really fucked in terms of penalties. Now it's time to get to work.

Look at the guidelines and make sure you are good.
All of that aside I want you to remember a few things - you should always have more content than ads. Period. No exception.
I know the goal of you site is to make money but believe it or not, the less ads you have, the more likely people are to click on them. If you want to make money, give people a quality website. MORE CONTENT .... LESS ADS.
Don't use hidden text or blink links.
Don't use cloaking or sneaky redirects. Not used as often today but a fear years ago it was all the rage. Bad idea and can fuck you with google.
Don't send automated queries to Google. This also means don't use software that does either. It wasn't to long ago that SEO software people were paying $200+ for, got their asses banned because it would do queries. Avoid these things like the plague!
Don't load your website with a bunch of irrelevant keywords. Try and keep your focus on a few keywords - pick 1 or 2 you like and stick with those only.
Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content. This can really hurt you more than help you. In the past it was more important to have a lot of pages index, the old spider trap but today it is more important to have unique content. So 3 unique pages are far far more valuable to google than 3,000 that are not.
And this is probably the most important --
If your site participates in an affiliate program,
make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.
