So yes, he was guilty, but the whole prosecution was based on her lying to her dad who then called the police. Had she told the truth and he not been a racist there is a good chance none of it would have happened.
One of the interesting parts of the story is that while the guy was in jail the state change its sentencing guidelines, but refused to make them retroactive. They were going to force him to serve the full 10 years. Because of the way the guidelines were had he actually raped her he would have served less time because of parole and time off for good behavior.
Anyway, I know they aren't the same, it is just that this case reminded me of the Dixon case.
