Bison on the Menu: Is This OK?

I recently got a newsletter from my "local" grocer chain advertising "Bison on the Menu".

Now, though I'm not the sort to gripe about eating horse meat or anything like that because they're pretty (even dog meat), I wonder about eating Bison...

They're closer to cow than horses are, granted, but aren't they endangered? And yeah of course these are cultivated, is this the way the big noble beasts are going to survive, if we grow them to eat them?

The online pamphlet doesn't say if they're American Buffalo or Plains or the Euro-kind, but I still wonder if it's a decent/kind/ethical/whatever way to go...

But still, you know, Buffalo Chili just sounds so good lol....

:D
