I do wonder if that was the case. When you hire off duty cops it is overtime and usually runs $50-60/hr.
Or maybe him getting on a commercial flight was too obvious so he flew privately somewhere.
Or they could have blown the money.
I can think of a few legitimate security costs that wouldn't be cheap.
