QFT! Thanks!!!
Seriously, I have played guitar for decades, and I still don't have a clue about how to craft a beautiful song like Sentimental Lady. Robbie is an accomplished guitarist and he can tell you how hard it is to produce songs that have any chance to make it up the Billboard 100. Sometimes creating the song is the easy part. Getting it recorded, promoted and distributed, and still making a few dollars is a long-shot at best. The music business is way dirtier and more cutthroat than the jizz biz.
Bob Welch was fortunate in many ways. I didn't know until today that he had a fondness for France, since that is where he attended the Sorbonne, and Paris is where Fleetwood Mac located him when they had a vacancy for a guitarist and singer.
Straightforward pop-rock ditty there, and I could probably learn to play it, but I would give my left nut to be able to craft songs like Bob Welch could, sell records, and fill concert halls (well, if I could give up another body part, say my appendix, that would be better, since I like having two nuts to play with).
Instead, I like to live vicariously through rock stars, the same way I guess that members of my site like to watch and imagine that they are in the scene. Come to mention, it so would I, damn it! I'm always near the action (filming), but never in the action!
Not everyone rises to the level of an Eric Clapton, but there are many who put their hearts and souls into their music nonetheless. Bless them.
