Well, on the surface this is obvious. But what if you run a blog and you've got banners all over the place, link trades, entrance consoles, exit consoles... and you've got site's images on your blog, with their links prominently placed. Large blogs have 50 billion ads all over the place, and most of them are NOT leading to the site that provided the content. Technically you are using their images to promote other sites... the surfers you're attracting to your site using their content are coming in and ultimately finding other sites content. So where is the line drawn exactly? Are they saying on the pages the images are placed, you need to strip off all other links except for those leading to the site the content is from? Or are they simply saying "don't link XYZ's content to ABC's site"? Or am I totally over analyzing this and should just get back to work...
