He lived as an out man... didn't do anything to hide it (best friends with Kathy Griffin, owns home with partner, goes to pride with him and is always in pap shots with him) but would never publicly confirm because of his reporting from war zones. Now he thinks that is not a good enough reason to professionally stay in the closet. He was even out to all of his co-workers. Hell he was even out to gay people, really. I understand his reasons for staying in the closet publicly and never saw a problem with it.
