The best way to get a conversion is a simple html text link in my experience ;-)
Simple links are rare these days and sometimes a story with a link really works well and your story's text is the SEO bait for the search engines to send you visitors that become referrals and some sales. Sometimes affiliate made tools based on RSS/XML data work well. Over the years I have known a lot of successful affiliates that create their websites from feed data that we provide.

The best displays are the ones that are made from the tools we provide -- they are unique to your website and can be the basis of a design.

This advice is generic to all the major cam programs -- most give you the tools and some of the materials but you have to build the house yourself -- that is what you bring to the table. If you make something that works it is not on 1000 other sites ...

AdWords is a good "affiliate" too -- they bring massive traffic to the table -- directive traffic that is ultra high quality. The difference is we pay affiliates a reoccurring commission for as long as their referred customer continues to buy and AdWords costs us up front for referrals whether they buy or not. We have the money to spend feeding AdWords but we like a mix of referring sources. Better to have your eggs in a few different baskets.

How many of you market multiple affiliate programs on the same website?
