In response I would say that any man who gets seriously involved with a single mother without finding out why her ex left (or why she left her ex) is a dumb ass.

If one was to take into account the fact that there always may be another man in the picture, as well as a kid or two who may never see you as their "real" dad, it's a pretty smart move to be wary of single moms.

Barring the possibility that her ex might have had commitment issues (which still speaks to her decision making skills to have a kid for him), it would be prudent to find out what kind of behavior she exemplified that was bad enough for the ex to not want to stick around for the sake of his kid. Not saying that it's her fault, but dating a single mom is serious business
