The mugshot website biz is pretty well established and the "reputation management industry" (run often by the same guys) is coming on strong. If the Russians, Ukrainians, whoever is not already doing it at some level I would be very surprised. What happened to blabbermouthkc has no real effect on that. The problem with this site was not the mugshots.

His business model was straight out extortion. He sent letters to people's homes telling them that if they didn't pay up then he would (if requested to) do neighborhood information campaigns, cabvassing the neighborhood with flyers about them or do a shout out campaign, putting up billboards in the local area about them.

But, like I said, if you paid the $200 he would make sure that that didn't happen to you, at least via him.

It was a protection scheme, pretty much pure and simple. He signed them with his own name and he was local.

I had very little to do with the whole thing. I did a parody site and he decided, for whatever reason, to deal with me. Like I said earlier, the entire KCSR board was involved. They got local media involved, they put the pressure on.

It is always good when you take out a bottomfeeder, even if the result is 2 more pop up.

You should never settle for status quo.
