If she was laughing, running around with you, loving making a fool out of herself, then no. You were not unfair.
If she was screaming at you to stop and the only reason she was running was to ensure that this newly created hole stayed intact, then yes. You were an ass. Or arse. Depending on which side of the pond you were on at the time.
