Follow B.Barnato's earlier advise, but instead of using your .com domain on tumblr, make a regular blog on that .com domain. Then on your tumblr blog link all of your pics and text links in your descriptions to your .com blog to make the sales. They don't seem to mind this as much as directly promoting right on your tumblr blog. You are just linking to an outside blog.
If you use the right tags on your tumblr posts, you will start to gain followers quickly and people re-blogging your posts. Get as many followers as you possibly can. The object is to get as many people re-blogging your posts as possible. If you get some of the bigger tumblr bloggers re-blogging your posts it brings in the traffic and adds tons of back links to your .com blog.
Google seems to love tumblr blogs lately. I am ranking higher with some of my tumblr blogs for my main keywords than I am for regular blogs that have been around for years.
