The update mentioned in this post is available to you and all of our customers.
Unfortunately with all software there reaches a point in time where old versions simply become outdated and new features are no longer backwards compatible. In your case you have a 5+ year old version of our CMS, one we have not offered for sale since before 2008.
The $500 you were quoted was not an upsell. This upgrade fee is charged to cover the time involved for our staff to manually update all of your files, update settings and do the work of batch processing all of your content so that content links get updated, thumbnails and preview images get resized to fit the new version's template layouts, etc. as well as any testing and fixes needed to make sure everything works properly for you with the new product version. We do this to ensure that nothing breaks in the process and your existing sites don't have any downtime.
