There are many answers as to how to deal with revealing what we do online to people not "in the Biz". It really does depend on so many factors, like the people involved, the relationships, etc. For me there are only a few people in my life whose opinions matter to me so I can laugh off the rest of the world. LOL Heck, how I answer the "What do you do?" question depends on my mood and caffiene levels.
In the example you gave it's exceptionally tough when children are involved. Then again, chances are that the wife would've found some other way to torture the husband even if he never did porn. But being a pornographer definitely made it tougher for him, and for that I'm sorry. Hopefully when the children get older they will understand the circumstances better and not blame him.

This ties into my response above because I really, truly, honestly do not give a flying diddlyfuck what someone thinks of what I do for a living. It is legal and I run my business as responsibly as i can given my limited resources and basically try not to be a dickhead. LOL So what if someone frowns at the fact that I have a network of adult-oriented websites? I probably make more than he does but even if I don't I can almost gaurantee I have a sweeter, less stressful and more joyful life than he is experiencing.
So, again, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.
