.net and .org for exact matches to get more bang for your buck (i.e. 5k+ phrases vs. 500+ in .com for the same cost) and .com's for more serious presences or for general SEO or hitting up higher search terms over time (better to do with an aged domain).
Saying this less on my experience and more on what I see from those who buy domains from us, adult or mainstream.
