Most people on welfare had and still have extended family as well as their own previous paychecks paying into the program they need to rely on temporarily. I and many others personally have many hundreds extended family, including myself who've paid into the programs since their inception. Besides you can only stay on benefits for a maximum of 5 years.
There's always some running premise as if the people receive foodstamps or benefits are not the same people who've paid into it. Almost like they're some other alien race. And that they stay on it for their entire lives.
I think that it's usually much closer to home than that.
