I don't think you can emphasis how important exercise with back issues can be. My brother, who I mentioned above had chronic minor pain in his back. It was solved with a few ibuprofen, but he had to take them every day. He joined a gym and paid for three sessions with a trainer. He explained his back issue and she helped him come up with a great workout. Within a few months the constant minor pain was gone and now he only hurts when he does too much.
