Oh, I was. I was Republican through and through. I was born into a Republican family.
I loved Regan, and liked Bush Sr. I was surprised Clinton did as well as he did. I supported Bush Jr in Afghanistan - I wanted to kick ass - and even supported Bush in Iraq. Then I watched as the Bush Administration destroyed our country, throwing the US and the rest of the world into the worst recession in the past sixty years. Exactly half of the twenty houses are on my street were vacant, and all of my friends and my wife couldn't find jobs.
What was the Republican solution to this massive problem? McCain - And Palin? Wait, what? That's a joke, right? McCain fifteen years ago was a man who took care of business. He was a fucking United States hero. He went to Vietnam when he was governor of AZ and said "I don't care who I offend, the VC imprisoned me and tortured me - You will always gooks to me". Fuck yea. But when he ran for President he was an old man way past his prime. He was going to fix our programs? And fucking Palin? Holy, that was a joke right?
Here's what really went down... The Republican party had destroyed our country and knew that they had no chance in hell of winning. Holy fucking shit, the Republican party got beat by a black man with a Muslim name who was a no name Senator from Illinois who may or may not have been born in Hawaii.
Flash forward four years later.... The entire Republican platform seems to be "Are we better off now than four years ago" and "we have a secret fix to solve our problems but we aren't telling anyone what it is". Are we better off now? Of course we are. You could have put my pet dog in the Oval Office and we still be better off - It was must a matter of not fucking up and allowing time to fix the financial problems. Construction has resumed in my home town, nineteen out of twenty houses on my street are occupied (the one empty one is because of a divorce), and all of my friends have jobs. This is where the Republican party is failing - Things are in fact better, and they don't seem to have a plan to do any better.
Then we have Romeny... Really? He's a business man of dubious intent who is the root of the problem, not the solution. He borrowed money to buy companies, raped them, destroyed them, ran them into the ground, collected a huge profit, and then hid the money from the IRS. Don't tell me he didn't - that was his entire business model. What was the name of the paper company they bought? AM Pad or AMP Paper or something? They borrowed money to buy the company, had the company itself borrow yet more money to make it look profitable, took more in "management fees" than the company made, ran the company straight into the ground, and then laughed all the way to the bank.
Next up we have the fact he was governor in Massachusetts. What was his approval rating there when he left office? He left office with a 34% approval rating - how the fuck is that Presidential material?
I used to be Republican through and through. But the Republican party bent us over, fucked us hard with a strap on dildo, and then failed to even try to fix the problem.
