Depends on thier age. We were never cained at primary school but I was at high school for having my top button on my shirt undone, as we all had to wear school ties or for not doing homework and various other things. We also had military training at high school and were also taught how to shoot with .22 rifles. It taught me discipline and to respect other people and their property.
It never did me any harm at all and I enjoyed school . I have never had the need to hit any of my kids and they are adults now, but I think the schools over here in the UK lack discipline specially in the high schools. You would never see a kid hit a teacher when I was at school now it happenes all the time, there is no repsect from a lot of the younger generation towards older people and property because they know they can get away with it with a cute little telling off.
