Lol, another ICM Registry success story.

In the past 5 months only just over 2000 new .xxx have been registered. (source: registrarstats)

Almost all registrars have first lowered their prices on .xxx and later stopped pushing them completely.

Remember when Domainnamenews analyzed the registration numbers for the.xxx tld and the Alexa traffic stats for those domains. They found that not only are there hardly any developed .xxx domains, the majority of those that have been developed have almost no traffic.

According to registrarstats, there are 119,053 .xxx domains now. In December 2011, Domainincite (which has always been very pro .xxx) published an article "Was .xxx's launch disappointing?":
Quote:
ICM CEO Stuart Lawley has previously predicted 300,000 to 500,000 registrations in the first few months, and that's still an achievable goal
Remember that mythical Paypal killer ICM Registry talked about? The one that would do $3 billion to $4 billion in transactions a year....

Remember when Lawley told Businessweek that ICM Registry would be making $200 million a year of of .xxx domains alone?

ICM Registry has been talking about this search engine for a very long time now. No wonder they're finally about to launch 'something'... when the first wave of .xxx domains is about to expire in a few months.

How long until the ship goes down? The tld may stick around for a long time... but the company running it?...
