It's not that he's against hot beverages, it's that Mormons don't believe in caffeine or any other stimulant, be it coffee, cola, tea etc. Something about the body being a temple. I once worked with a Mormon who explained it all to me, nicest guy you ever met, it really was like the Mormon episode of South Park where everyone was so chipper, it made you cringe.
