Why content is KING and EMPEROR.
Put up a blank page and leave it alone and you'le get nothing. Put a link to it it (content) on a board and you will get traffic. The key to selling anything has never been traffic, it has always been the product.
Online sites need traffic and it should never be ignored.
Newsgroups were to my knowledge the best place to get traffic in the early day. The traffic came constantly because it had content. Put up content with a domain in the image and you got some traffic.
Link lists, were pages of content in the form of links.
TGPs were a mass of galleries with content. Surfers came to see the content.
Blogs require content to get traffic, SEO.
Tubes require content.
Forums like Freeones require content to get traffic.
Today most of you will be loading more content to get more traffic. The more content you have the more traffic you will get. The better the content on a site the more traffic will come, stay and return. And here is why content is king. The higher a site can elevate it's content the more and better traffic it will get. The most stimulating, attractive or in demand the content is the more it controls the traffic. Simple examples are "Free Porn" will get more traffic than "Paid Porn. Dean Captures content will get more traffic than DVTimes content.
This is the prime tool to successful traffic generation and selling. If anyone can elevate their content to a level above the rest, they will get more traffic and more sales. Pornhub type sites have massive traffic because they have free content and as long as they do, people will go there.
Remove the free content people will go somewhere else.
A product that wants to sell successfully, needs to attract and stimulate more people into buying from it. The only way to do that in an unrestricted market is to elevate your product above the rest. Then work on the traffic, it will come and if it's good enough it will stay and then the site owner can use the traffic.
Maybe sell the traffic to a site with content, maybe because you have content sell them some.
And lastly. Why is the online porn industry shrinking? You can argue it isn't elsewhere.
