How does Google know that your content is a really good and high quality product (say you have hired some genius reincarnation of Ernest Hemingway as a copywriter) which couldn't be written by some Indian dude who used to work for food?
Was AI invented already? Does Google read every article on the Net to conclude something like: "Yeah, that was a real good shit, but I would add a bit more drama to the second act where Don Pedro finds out he is a father of Carmelita" If so, it seems we have missed some serious milestone in the IT evolution
The reality is very simple. Google can't estimate the quality level of your articles (and it doesn't give a shit actually), but it can examine your surfers' activity and see if they love your site or not.
