I'd like to think you'd do whatever you needed to do to take care of your family... maybe not...

So you were never 100% disabled. You were temporarily disabled. Then you went back to work.
My friend is 100% disabled. He has
Hydrocephalus (commonly called "Water on the brain"). He has good days and bad days. On good days he functions like a normal adult. On bad days he's rushed to the ER because the pressure on his brain is so great he is unable to communicate no less respond. I went with him to most of the doctor visits and VA hearings about his medical condition; Originally he was considered 20% disabled, then 60%, then 80%, then 100%. And it was a ten year process to get to that point.
My wife hurt her shoulder at work also, and was disability for nearly a year. She had an operation, and received a nice healthy paycheck too. But it was a far cry from being 100% disabled. Being 100% disabled is something you NEVER recover from.
I'm glad you were able to recover. Hit me up on ICQ so we can chat.
