When I was stationed in Hawaii, I had this buddy who was absolutely crazy. One time, he led me and a few friends on a hike around the outside of Hanauma Bay. There's a few spots where you're at the edge of some pretty long drops.
I'd attribute this mostly to being young and stupid, but for some reason we ended up throwing big rocks into the water below while standing on a 45 degree angle with sneakers and flip flops. Nothing but jagged rocks and waves about 100 feet below us. I was scared at that moment, but my friend had a way of sucking you into his insanity, and feeling safe.
There's so many times when I thought about how one slip could have ended my life. I would never do anything that stupid again.
