That's not true really.... Store employees - security or otherwise - cannot legally detain you or touch you in any way. They are not police officers or law enforcement in any way shape or form, and have no powers other than that of any ordinary citizen. If they detain you it's legally kidnapping, and if they touch you it's assault.
